HEAD COACH: Katy LeVasseur
Katy (a.k.a. Mama Manatee) moved to the Florida Keys from Colorado in 2003 to further enhance her animal training career by working with dolphins. In 2009, a few months after the birth of her daughter Alice, she decided to venture over to the coaching side of Masters swimming. Katy was a Masters swimmer herself both in the Keys and in Colorado. Prior to that she swam for Lake Forest College in Illinois where she was co-captain her sophomore though senior years, and was awarded MVP her freshman through junior years. Katy also competed at NCAA Division III Nationals three of her four years in college. She achieved All American status by placing top 16 in individual events and relays, and top 8 in the 200 breaststroke.
Katy believes that Masters swimming is a program where adults are able to not only accomplish a variety of goals ranging from swimming for fitness reasons to competing up to the international level, but can also do so in a fun and social atmosphere. Her practices are geared toward accommodating different levels of swimmers.
